I only shot about 25 rounds through it but there were no malfunctions and came zeroed at seven yards with a 12 o'clock hold. It looks like it has a lot of good information but the illustrations were poorly reproduced and look like b&w photos that have been photocopied. The included TM 9-1005-211-34 Direct and General Support Maintenance Manual is 45 pages long and is the 22 June 1964 revision. Inside were a shipping list, yellow CMP chamber flag, cable lock, reproduction technical manual, a two hour range pass, and a COA.

The case is big enough to store three pistols. It came in a tan Flambeau case embossed on the lid with the CMP logo. The top of the rear sight has been slightly filled down but is still usable. Slide to frame fit is tight and the trigger and safety operate smoothly. The grips have some wear marks but they match the condition of the rest of the pistol. The inside of my HS barrel is flawless and looks brand new. If the frame was refinished then it was done with a lighter touch than the slide. The slide has been refinished at least once but all of the markings are still legible. It's in the condition that I expected with the surprise of a Colt. Overall I am very pleased with what I received. It came with a single current production Mec-Gar magazine. According to Colt's serial number lookup website my 756717 was made in 1941. I received a Colt slide on a Colt frame with a High Standard barrel. This week I picked it up and took it to the range. It took about three weeks for it to ship and when it arrived my backround check was delayed for two days. They only had two grades available so I selected a Field Grade for $950. Finally, on OctoI got a call from the CMP telling me that lottery number 16830 was finally selected. I had a choice of rack or field when thy called.When I first applied to the CMP for a 1911 I was informed of my randomly generated number on March 7, 2019. Quite good condition with a matching finish. Mine was a Ithaca frame and Remington Rand slide. If you join the Garand collectors association they automatically send your information to the CMP so you don't have to, was well worth it to me for that alone.ĭidn’t know about the FB group, I was follow the RGN thread on the CMP forums. There is also a guy on the facebook page who is very knowledgeable on 1911's and provides a lot of great information. I got a very nice original finish colt frame with remington rand slide that had only been through one arsenal rebuild. Just before mine came up they were dispersing out of a crate of some very nice rack grades and that's what I opted for when I got the call. There is a facebook group where people post pics of what they got and their RGN so you know when your number is about to come up. I was very happy with the 1911 I got in round 2.
